We welcome you into the family of Electropedic Stair Lifts. Since 1964, we are the manufacturer of the Electropedic Bed. In 1985, we expanded into a full line of Electric Medical Equipment.

Before you buy an Electric Stair Lift, compare Price, Quality, Guarantee and Service. To give you a price and recommendation, we first need to know if your stair lift is basically straight up and down (and approximately how many feet or steps) - or is it a custom right angle or curved unit (although many people buy (2) two straight units to save on the price of a custom unit.)

New Straight Units have a Suggested Retail price usually between $2895.00 and (outdoor units) $5495.00. Used Stair Lifts are always 1/2 OFF! Custom Curved Units usually run between $12,500 and $15,000.

Most people buy a straight, inside the home unit. Some people need an outdoor unit. Some people need a unit that goes into a commerical setting (although Acorn has a standard key switch.)

We need your confirmation that your stair case is made out of wood; and also a confirmation that your bottom floor or landing is either wood, concrete or marble. (It is always recommended that the unit be installed resting on the landing; although, it is not always "wanted" or practical. Some models have a flip up bottom track that is not attached to the floor - and can also get out of the way of any passage way or door.)

The unit is ideally installed about 6 to 8" pass the lip of the top stair so you can exit the unit is a comfortable sitting position.

We explain to you that the track for the units are not installed onto the wall, but rest on the steps. The rail is installed onto the stairway with about 8 brackets.

We find out if you are planning to put the unit on the left side or the right side (we always ask if you are downstairs, looking up . . . what side are you planning to install your stairway lift.) Then we may ask you to confirm if there are any side rails or doors or access ways that may get in the way.

We are also going to need an outlet somewhere close to the stairway unit.

We explain how most units are actually powered by their batteries. You are actually plugging in a battery charger. This system means that your stair lift will also work during a power outage.

Texas State

Texas state residents who are disabled can claim exemption from motor vehicle sales and use taxes on new or used vehicles when adaptive equipment is installed for use by a disabled driver. The state sales tax applied to the cost of the adaptive equipment, or any charges for the installation of the equipment, may also be exempted. Claims can be made after the date of purchase. Assistance Program Guidelines
Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. will provide a reimbursement of up to $1,000 to each eligible, original retail customer, for the exact cost they paid to purchase and install qualifying adaptive driving or passenger equipment for transporting persons with physical disabilities.*

TAS - What is it?
Bruno's revolutionary TAS is a system that provides easy access to an automotive seat. For higher vehicles, this is accomplished by the seat rotating, coming out of the vehicle, and down toward the ground. For lower vehicles, the seat simply rotates out over the door sill. In either situation, the seat is easy to access.

  My name is Matthew Archuleta. In 1991 I was involved in a car accident that left me with quadriplegic injuries. Since my disability was automobile related, I had many fears about getting behind the wheel again and as a result, I became dependent on friends and family for all of my transportation needs.
  
  As time went on and I became stronger, my desire for independence grew. With my parents help, a truck was purchased for me and through the state, I got into a program that would make all the necessary modifications that would allow me to drive again. As exited as I was to return to work and to be able to take myself wherever I wanted to go, I was very concerned how I was going to manage the loading an unloading of my wheelchair into the truck. I had seen people struggle in public with taking apart their chairs and pulling them into the passenger seat. I couldn't help but feel a little discouraged by this obstacle. Would it really be worth the hassle every time I wanted to get in and out of my truck?

  Someone who I had attended physical therapy with had a truck equipped with a Bruno lift. He was much more impaired than I and was able to zip all over town with ease. That was my answer! Within a short time, I had my own Bruno lift and I can tell you that it has changed my life completely. I feel such a sense of pride that I am a productive member of my community again. It has also allowed my mother some much deserved free time. Her days off were usually spent taking me to physical therapy, doctor's appointments and just doing my general errands with me. Now I can be responsible for all those things myself. I have even started my own small business this past year.

  It's such a secure feeling to know that I can always depend on my Bruno lift and that in minutes, I can be on my way.

  My recently acquired Bruno VSL-550 Scooter Lift, in combination with my Bruno Cub 30, has given me a new sense of freedom in that I can go to wherever I want to, when I want to. My wife no longer must deal with a heavy and awkward wheelchair, and no longer has to push me around the sightseeing sites that we now can visit and enjoy.

  Nowadays, we all have had a new appreciation of our many freedoms that our country affords us, my Bruno scooter and Lift have for me, given an additional dimension to those freedoms.

  The result of being born eight weeks premature left me with the orthopedic woes of spastic diplegia Cerebral Palsy. Because I was born at such an early date, the muscles and bones in my body were underdeveloped, leaving me weak and with a slim chance of recovery without developing further problems. As my twin sister Laura shared the same outlook as I, a day that was supposed to be one of the happiest of their lives proved devastating for both my parents alike. Under the impression for the past seven months that they were having a happy and healthy baby boy, the surprise of twin girls was soured by the medical challenges they faced. O:P>

  That was nearly fifteen years ago. After two months in intensive care, my sister and I were well enough to go home for the first time, having reached adequate weights and nutrition levels. Unlike my sister, however, I developed additional problems later in life that included scoliosis and a painful nerve condition called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome (RSD), a misfortune I suffered during a medical procedure in early 2000. My Bruno scooter model, the Cub, has been a tremendous help during times of need.

  As my walking ability is limited, school has been an ever-present challenge. As I have used a Bruno scooter since kindergarten, I am able to get to classes in a timely fashion, as well as carry my own books and supplies with the help of my basket, which is much more gratifying in an intellectual sense than watching someone do it for you. As a result, I have maintained a superior academic performance throughout my school career. As I'm not exactly built for athletics, but wanted to be an active figure in my school's sports program, I was manager for the girl's basketball team this past season. In addition, I was a firm figure in the drama program with role as narrator in the past production. Doing these tasks, if at all, would have proved difficult had I not had my Bruno.

  Mobility outdoors has always been an issue. Walking on rough terrain is virtually impossible without the assistance of a cane or walker, although they aren't the most convenient devises as they promote hunching when you tire, which can result in back pain. Because of the versatility of my Bruno product, I can take it in virtually any type of environment with the greatest of ease. Just recently, I took it to the Greater Milwaukee Open, and it was a wonderful relief not having to agonize over feelings of exhaustion as well as general aches and pains. In addition, it's nice not having to depend on other people for an arm or hand.

  Despite my extensive record of physical ailments, I am capable of doing whatever I please with the assistance of my Bruno. It has truly changed my life. Dealing with these limitations has only made me stronger and built my character to the optimistic person I am today. I've learned that it's best to cherish what you've got opposed to wasting away over what you can't have. Life is too short to focus on the negatives, the misfortunes, and the mishaps. It's best you turn your attention to the positives, the people who surround you, the very greatness of life itself. You'll have your peaks and valleys, your highs and lows, but being a confident human being blessed with independence and sovereignty is what really counts-even if a machine gets you there!
